Tips in Treating Hemorrhoids
There are various ways in treating
hemorrhoids in this digital world. There are
treatments that do not require an attending physician to
regularly check the patient who has hemorrhoids; instead,
they just let hemorrhoids heal through natural remedies.
There are also other treatments that need doctor’s
participation in getting rid of the hemorrhoids. This is
usually applicable to hemorrhoids that have enlarged already
and have severe inflammations. But treating hemorrhoids
should not only end to the treatment procedures, one should
always continue taking preventive measures to
avoid recurrence of
the hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids Treatments
Treating hemorrhoids can be categorized into two types – the
home-based treatment and the hospital-based treatment.
Home-based treatments are those that involve natural
remedies for treating hemorrhoids.
- warm tub baths a day for ten to twenty minutes
- application of hemorrhoids cream or ointment
- drinking plenty of water daily (at least eight glasses
a day)
- healthy diet (taking more of fiber foods which can help
aid digestion and soften stool)
- regular physical exercise
- avoid long-hour of sitting down or standing in just one
position
- proper hygiene
Hospital-based treatments
This kind of
treatment involves the participation of an
attending physician. It does not follow that one has to
undergo surgery if being treated inside the hospital. It
is still the doctor’s call what to do about your hemorrhoids.
Hospital-based treatments include:
- Rubber Band Litigation: A rubber band is tied around
the affected area to block blood circulation in the area.
This causes the hemorrhoids to shrink and to vanish a few days
after.
- Infrared Coagulation: Affected tissues are
being removed through a special device use in burning
hemorrhoids tissues (laser or
scalpel)
- Scleotheraphy: Certain chemical solution is
injected around the affected area for it to shrink.
- Hemorrhoidectomy: This method is the removal
of hemorrhoids through surgery.
Treating hemorrhoids, though, through those aforementioned
treatment procedures are not that easy to apply. It still
boils down to how receptive the system of the patient during
the treatment. Also, it is expected that after undergoing
treatments (such as those mentioned under hospital-based),
there are some minor complications that might lead to
discomfort and pain. Like for example, under Rubber Band
Litigation, it is expected that patients can feel intense pain
after the procedure. There are some instances of
temporary difficulty in urinating due to the
pain.
Likewise, those who have undergone hemorroidectomy (or
surgery) can also feel discomfort and pain after the
operation. It is more likely to be more painful than
other procedures. Its side effects include: intense pain
which can last longer, difficulty in urinating and removing of
bowel due to the pain, profuse bleeding, and some
infections.
It should be taken into consideration, however, that despite
all the available treatments for hemorrhoids, one should take
medical advice early on. At the first sight of initial
symptoms of hemorrhoids, it is advisable that you should let it
be checked by a doctor so that proper medications and
preventions will be given.
